SPECIFICATION FOR GALVANIZED STEEL BARBED WIRE

1. Scope:

This specification covers the requirements of Galvanized Steel Barbed Wire with two strands of wire, conforming to IS:278-1978 with up to date amendments in either of the following types:-

• 1. Type-A
• 2. Type-B

2. General Requirements

• 2.1 Types of Barbed wires.
• 2.1.1 Type "A":-

The barbs shall have four points and shall be formed by twisting two point wires each two turns, tightly around both the line wires making altogether four complete turns.

• 2.1.2 Type "B":-

The barbs shall have four points and shall be formed by twisting two Point Wires, each two turns, tightly around one line wire making altogether four complete turns.

4. Manufacture

4.1 The Barbed Wire shall be formed by twisting together two wires one or both containing the barbs.

4.2 The barbs shall be so finished that the four points are set, as far as possible, at right angles to each other. The barbs shall have a length of not less than 13 mm and not more than 18 mm. The points shall be sharp and cut at an angle not greater than 35 degrees to the axis of the wire forming the barb.

5. Galvanizing

The barbed wire shall be made from galvanized steel wire galvanized as per IS: 4826:1979 (with upto date amendments) for light coated wire. when determined in accordance with IS:6745-1972 (with upto date amendments) as follow.
